Quality Improvement (QI) has become a hot topic of debate in contemporary health care settings. Skyrocketting of costs has lead to cost cutting and often a compromise in the Quality of Care. The end user is not aware about the need for quality in healthcare and often pays more to get services of doubtful or poor quality. The healthcare delivery systems in evolving economies are grappling with resource crunch and heavy population loads. These issues are not going to be fixed immediately. The options before the healthcare professionals is to assume charge and fix these problems using simple approaches which revitalize the system. Quality improvement is one such approach. Quality improvement strategies are a set of guiding principles which empower the healthcare delivery systems and focus on achieving synergy across all components and constituents .WHO defines Quality of care as “the extent to which health care services provided to individuals and patient populations improve desired health outcomes. In order to achieve this, health care must be safe, effective, timely, efficient, equitable and people- centered. This approach encourages the concept of measuring quality of care and working together in a team to fix problems. It is well recognized in public health , what is not measured is not done ! The importance of team work is well recognized but poorly implemented. The purpose of this website is to appraise the user with resources and tested methodology to implement QI in their respective settings. It will serve as a platform for sharing experiences, building network, innovating new methodologies in sync with the individual health delivery system requirements of the region. Let’s all begin this fascinating journey of quality improvement together.
